Welcome to the Watford First Class Learning Centre which is well established being the first centre to open in the Watford area. We support children in the local community with both maths, English, science and 11-plus tuition in preparation for the South West Herts Consortium exams. We also support adults to improve in maths and English.
Students of all ages attend our study centre at Central Primary School in WD17 (opposite the Harlequin). We cater for learners from Early Years and primary through to GCSE and adult students.
Our expert Centre Manager Preeti Shah individualises each student’s learning programme to target any gaps in understanding and to further develop knowledge and skills. The bespoke programmes help with school work and exam preparation as well as build confidence and independence. A varied approach is offered which includes 1:1 support and independent learning provision.
Our maths, English, science and 11-plus programmes are flexible and tailored to learners’ individual needs and abilities so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. The 11-plus programme focuses on maths, English and verbal reasoning in a step by step approach working towards Mock exams and more intensive preparation for the South West Herts Consortium exams. Ongoing assessments are carried out to measure progress and adapt the learning programmes accordingly. The ‘little and often’ approach is recommended and 10-15 minutes per day homework is provided with plenty of repetition and practice that really does make a huge difference.
The Centre Manager at First Class Learning Watford (Beechen Grove) individualises each child’s learning journey with a unique structured programme that enables them to advance at a pace that is both comfortable and stretching. The structured programmes are targeted to fill any existing gaps in your child’s understanding. This therefore helps with their school work, builds confidence and develops independent learning skills, something that is extremely important in today's busy classrooms in schools.
Our First Class Learning Watford Centre Manager, Preeti Shah, will call you to discuss how First Class Learning Watford can help your child with maths, English, science or 11-plus and how our programme works. Any feedback you have from school or any learning concerns you have can be discussed. If you are happy with this, the next step will be to book an initial assessment for your child to complete either at the centre or via a video call to determine any gaps in knowledge. Once we have established your child’s needs, we will put together a bespoke learning programme that will support and encourage your child’s learning, enabling them to gain confidence and bridge any gaps that they may have. Your child will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre or online. They will be introduced to the concepts within their scheduled work each session and encouraged to attempt tasks independently after completing examples together with their tutor. Tasks completed within the session are marked and students are then provided with a structured programme of homework to continue practising the skills that they have met in the class. Our programme is a partnership between First Class Learning Watford, your child and you as parents so communication between all is important.
