I used to worry a lot about their learning but that has been taken away. Please send your children there if you want them to be confident in school and in everyday life.

Maths and English Tuition at Harlesden

We understand that choosing the right tuition provider is a big decision. That’s why our English and maths programmes are thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of each individual student. With over 15 years of experience and a proven track record of helping thousands of students across the UK, we equip your child with the skills to succeed—and give you the peace of mind you deserve.

At the heart of our mission is the goal of fostering confident, enthusiastic and independent learners. Through our unique approach, we ensure that each student progresses at their own pace while remaining aligned with the National Curriculum. Every student follows a personalised learning path designed to address any gaps in their knowledge while reinforcing and expanding on what they already know. This approach, coupled with self marking, not only helps them build essential skills but also sets them up for a lifetime of independent learning.

Our flexible programmes are tailored to meet the individual needs and abilities of each learner. Students move through levels of the programme only once they’ve mastered a topic, and regular assessments ensure continuous, optimal progress. By employing a 'little and often' strategy—with plenty of repetition and practice—students will make meaningful strides in their learning.

How we work

At First Class Learning, our goal is to help new students feel relaxed and comfortable from the very start. To ensure this, we begin with a unique, in-home assessment, so as to evaluate your child in an environment they are comfortable in. During this session, your child will complete a set of worksheets designed to highlight both their strengths and identify the areas where they may need additional support. This also serves as an introduction to our innovative learning materials. Using the results from this assessment, we build a personalized programme tailored to your child's specific needs. Our English and maths pathways are aligned with the National Curriculum, guiding students through a step-by-step progression that builds the skills they need. This approach is what makes First Class Learning so effective, helping students gain clarity on topics that they are studying at school. Each week, your child will attend the centre, where they’ll be introduced to topics and guided through each lesson. We ensure that not only are they completing the worksheets, but also fully understanding the material. We review their work regularly to ensure they’re on track and grasping key concepts. Additionally, homework will be assigned in the form of short, manageable tasks designed to reinforce the lessons. These tasks are completed through printed worksheets—providing a break from screen time—and give parents confidence in knowing that their child has clear direction and structure. To monitor progress, regular testing and reviews will be conducted during centre sessions. This allows us to track growth and adjust the programme as needed to ensure your child’s continued success.

FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?
FCL offers structure and daily practice, with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling the child to retain what they have learnt and gain confidence with ease. It also develops good study habits and independent learning so that they don’t become dependent on others teaching them.
How will FCL help with my child’s school work?
By filling in any gaps they may have and developing their confidence we can change their attitude to a positive one and at the same time give them the skill sets needed to carry through to all school work.
Can I sit with my child while they do their work at the centre?
If your child is worried about coming into their first session, parents can come in to begin with but you won’t need to stay for long. Once they see the friendly faces and welcoming atmosphere, they are happy to stay on their own. We like to encourage independent and confident students.
If I join, am I tied into FCL for a set amount of time?
No, not at all. FCL is primarily a long term programme, not a 'quick fix'. However, there are many reasons why you may need to stop, so I just ask for a month's notice.
