Centre Manager Bishop's Stortford
The Bishop's Stortford First Class Learning Centre is run by Mark Remmington.
Mark graduated from the University of Warwick in Mathematics and Statistics, with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of London, and is also a fully qualified Chartered Management Accountant.
Mark set up his tuition centre in March 2019 after deciding to take an early retirement package. He didn’t want to retire full time but instead wanted to engage his ‘entrepreneurial spirit’. As a previously fully-qualified Secondary School Maths Teacher, Mark had the skills needed but initially considered setting up a stand-alone tutoring business which appeared daunting, despite his prior experience.
Mark saw an advert for First Class Learning and was pulled in when learning there was no requirement to re-learn the entire Curriculum. Mark saw this opportunity as ‘the marriage I was looking for between actually teaching / tutoring and being supported in the aspect of material provision’. Rather than a bricks and mortar investment, Mark was encouraged to join First Class Learning’s successful Franchise programme because of both the supplied teaching materials and the aspect of renting space.
Mark landed his first student sign up just 1 week after finding a space. His chosen location is a Primary School, which proved to be a huge advantage after a school liaison contact distributed his flyer via email to all parents. This method has bought in all of his students so far. The phone call conversion ratio is 75% with 22 leads in the first 2 months. Mark has personally completed leaflet drops in the local area and has seen great engagement and leads on Facebook also.
Mark believes that the FCL materials provide a huge advantage to gain the necessary knowledge which other tuition franchises do not offer and is looking forward to continuing running his successful established business as his centre keeps on growing.
