Maths and English Tuition at Levenshulme

Welcome to the Levenshulme First Class Learning Centre. We support children and adults in the local community with maths, English and science tuition.

Students of all ages attend our study centre at Levenshulme Methodist Church, Stockport Road, M19 3AP. We cater for learners from Early Years and primary through to GCSE and adult students.

Our expert Centre Managers support your child's learning in maths, English and science in order to support and facilitate your child's school studies, boost confidence, and foster independent learning skills.

All our programmes are tailored to learners' individual needs, so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. At First Class Learning we believe in 1% steps to 100% success.

How we work

Our First Class Learning Centre Manager will call you to discuss how we can help your child with maths, English or science. They will then assist your child to complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child's needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child's learning. If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre or online. In these classes they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned and discussed with the Centre Manager, who will give them a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.

Centre Manager

Robina is a qualified ESOL lecturer and IELTS examiner. She has over 12 years experience in teaching and has taught in the community and in a College for Further Education. She is fully trained and qualified to deliver the First Class Learning study programme. She has been running the Levenshulme First Class Learning Centre for 4 years.

Maths

Our maths programme focuses on building confidence and mastery of key topics, bridging any gaps in knowledge that could be a barrier to your child’s progress at school. Your child will be able to progress beyond their school level as we enhance and build on their skills. The programme is tailored to each individual child’s needs.

English

Our English programme concentrates on reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, creative writing and handwriting. The initial diagnostic testing assesses the child's needs so that we can provide an individualised programme.

Science

Our comprehensive science programme will develop your child's knowledge and the skills required as part of their school curriculum. The programme has a proven record for improving results and encourages enjoyment in learning.

FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?

FCL fosters structure and daily practice, encouraging a ‘little and often’ approach that is proven to develop positive study habits and increased confidence in school work. Through this approach, your child does not become dependent on others teaching them but is encouraged to become an independent learner.

How will FCL help with my child’s school work?

Our programmes are designed in line with the National Curriculum. By bridging any gaps in knowledge your child may have, we develop your child’s confidence in their ability to complete school work, creating a more positive attitude to learning.

Can I sit with my child while they do their work at the centre?

If your child is worried about coming into their first session, parents can come in to begin with. However, you won’t need to stay long; once your child sees the friendly faces and welcoming atmosphere of our team members, children are happy to stay on their own. Our mission is to build independent and confident students.

Is the centre following the Government’s guidelines to be Covid safe?

All necessary safety precautions are in place for the safety of our students and staff members.
